Uranium One look at Dominion expansion

11 July 2007

[Uranium One, 10 July] Uranium One has started feasibility studies for a phased capacity expansion at the Dominion Reefs uranium mine in South Africa, with plans initially to increase ore processing capacity from 200,000 to 300,000 tonnes per month and ultimately doubling that to 400,000 tonnes per month. The mine, which shipped its first tanker of ammonium diuranate (ADU) on 9 July, started processing uranium ore in February 2007 and Uranium One expects it to achieve the feasibility study production target of 491,000 pounds U3O8 during 2007. The expansion plans, along with the sinking of additional declines and shafts, leads the company to anticipate a potential annual production of around 7 million lb U3O8 by 2012.
