Under the terms of a contract signed with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC), Rolls Royce will replace the original analogue platforms of the neutron instrumentation systems at the two CPR-1000 units with its Spinline digital systems. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

The safety critical neutron instrumentation system allows for monitoring of instantaneous nuclear power, power fluctuations, and radial/axial power distribution in the reactor by measuring the reactor neutron flux. The same technology was installed in the two CPR-1000s at Ling Ao Phase II (units 3 and 4).

Benoit Chabre, president of Rolls-Royce's instrumentation and control business, noted that the company's neutron instrumentation technology will be used in each of China's current and planned fleet of 22 CPR-1000 pressurized water reactors.
