Heat exchanger order for UAE plant

22 August 2011

Swedish company Alfa Laval has won an order to supply heat exchangers to the United Arab Emirates' first nuclear plant at Braka. The SEK 60 million ($9.5 million) order was placed by Korea Electric Power Company (Kepco), the leader of the consortium building the Braka units. Deliveries under the contract are scheduled to begin in 2013 and be completed by 2018. Alfa Laval Group president and CEO Lars Renström described the contract as a "prestige project". Construction of the first of four APR-1400 pressurised water reactors at Braka is due to begin in 2012, with the unit slated to start up in 2017.
