Motor rally takes in European nuclear sites
28 October 2008
A series of seminars on "Nuclear Power Engineering - New Generation" has been held in the form of an international motor rally. Participants drove to various European nuclear power plants and organizations, at which they were given tours and presentations. The rally began at Russia's Leningrad nuclear power plant on 4 October and took in Finland's Loviisa and Olkiluoto plants; the Ringhals plant in Sweden; Germany's Grohnde and Isar plants; the Russian mission to the IAEA in Vienna, Austria; the Temelin plant in the Czech Republic; Hungary's Paks plant; and the Ignalina plant in Lithuania. The drivers ended up back at the Leningrad plant on 24 October. "I think that it was a successful project. Of course, it was our first experience and there were certain organizational deficiencies but we have tested a new form of cooperation with our European colleagues and it seems to be quite effective," said S Averyanov, head of the information department of the Leningrad plant, one of the organizers of the event.
