New build prompts tube production capacity increase

Sweden-based Sandvik Materials Technology has announced it is to "significantly" increase capacity for the production of high-alloy steam generator tubes in order to meet growing demand from the nuclear power industry. The first phase of the capacity expansion at its Sandviken plant is scheduled to go on stream at the beginning of 2010. Said Peter Gossas, president of Sandvik Materials Technology: "These investments strengthen Sandvik’s position as a leading supplier of steam generator tubes to the rapidly growing nuclear power industry."
