Shiga appointed Westinghouse chairman

05 July 2010

Westinghouse Electric Company has appointed Shigenori Shiga as its new chairman with immediate effect, following the 1 July retirement of Steve Tritch from the position. Shiga has served as senior vice president and chief coordination officer for the company since 2006, concurrently serving as executive vice president of Toshiba Corporation's Power Systems business. Westinghouse president and CEO Aris Candris welcomed Shiga's appointment, saying it would bring balance and stability to the company's senior management team and reinforce its ability to act in concert with Toshiba. Shiga will be replaced as chief coordination officer by Tetsuya Noda. Toshiba acquired Westinghouse from BNFL in 2006.
