Bellefonte decision next year

07 October 2010

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will officially decide on completing Bellefonte 1 in the first half of 2011. On 5 October the company awarded an engineering contract concerning the construction to Areva, at the same time writing to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to warn it may revise an application to build two completely new reactors at Bellefonte. The TVA board will consider which route to take when determining its Integrated Resource Plan in the first half of 2011. Should it decide to complete Bellefonte 1, the application for units 3 and 4 would require significant revision taking up to two years.
