Inauguration of Eunice uranium enrichment plant

Urenco has celebrated the readiness of its new uranium enrichment facility at Eunice, New Mexico. Officially named 'URENCO USA/LES', and to be operated by a subsidiary of the same name, Eunice will have a capacity of 5.7 million SWU and may begin operation as soon as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) finally approves the actual start of commercial operation. This will be the first facility to have completed the NRC's revised system of combined construction and operating licensing.
