Next head of EdF decided

29 September 2009

Henri Proglio is set to take over as CEO of Electricité de France (EdF), after a board meeting last weekend. The French government has announced his nomination, which requires approval from parliament before a presidential decree completes the change. The government thanked current CEO Pierre Gadonneix for his work, during which shares were sold for the first time and EdF became recognised as France's second-biggest company. Proglio should take over as CEO and chairman on 22 November. At the same time a former British ambassador to France, Lord Jay of Ewelme, will take a seat on the board, presumably to advise EdF on its plans to build four reactors in the UK.
