Trekkopje output estimate doubled

20 February 2007

[UraMin, 19 February] UraMinInc announced that annual uranium production at its Trekkopje projectin Namibia could be more than double that previously expected. SRKConsulting has conducted an update of the ongoing feasibility study forthe project and suggests that output could exceed 3600 tonnes U3O8(3000 tU), up from 1500 tonnes U3O8 (1270 tU) in a previous assessment.SRK's project scope contemplated an open-pit mine using a sodiumcarbonate/bicarbonate heap leach process at a large-scale mining rateof 100,000 tonnes per day. The earlier production estimate was based ontank leach processing, a method that uses much more water than heapleach. A trial mine is planned for the fourth quarter of 2007 andTrekkopje should begin commercial production in the fourth quarter of2008. SRK's model envisages a two-year pre-production period, followedby a production period of eight years producing 27,670 tonnes U3O8(23,460 tU), as well as 9072 tonnes of vanadium pentoxide. Trekkopjehas seen a substantial conversion of 'inferred' to 'indicated'resources. 'Measured' and 'indicated' resources are now estimated at144.6 million tonnes grading 146 ppm U3O8 equivalent, containing anestimated 21,000 tonnes U3O8. Inferred resources are estimated at 195.3million tonnes grading 138 ppm, containing an estimated 27,000 tonnesU3O8.
