Australian uranium production steady

Australian uranium industry figures show that uranium production for FY2006 was slightly down on the previous year at 9576.5tonnes U3O8, but slightly more than calendar year 2006. ERA's flood-hit Ranger mine in the Northern Territory produced 5256 tonnes U3O8 - well below capacity, while BHP Billiton's Olympic Dam mine inSouth Australia produced 3474 tonnes U3O8 - steadily increasing over the year. Beverley, also in South Australia, owned by Heathgate Resources, produced 846.6 tonnes. Overall, uranium exports amounted to 9518 tonnes U3O8 worth A$658 million ($562 million).
