LaSalle plant runs up another record

[Exelon, 27 February] Exelon Corp's two-unit LaSalle nuclear power plant in Illinois, USA, now holds the world record for both the longest continuous run for a light-water reactor (LWR) and the second longest run. Unit 1 – a 1137 MWe boiling water reactor (BWR) – broke the world record for the longest run in February 2006, when it had operated continuously for 739 days. On 26 February 2007, its twin, LaSalle 2, set a new world record for the second longest run, at 711 days.
