First Uranium acquires last of Ezulwini

18 December 2007

First Uranium Corporation has announced it has acquired the remaining 10% of the Ezulwini Mining Company, completing its ownership of the Ezulwini gold and uranium mine in South Africa. Ezulwini, an underground gold and uranium mine 40 km from Johannesburg, operated from the early 1960s to 2001 when it was mothballed. First Uranium, through its subsidiary Ezulwini Mining, signed an agreement to buy the mine from Randfontein Estates in 2006 and has since then reopened and rehabilitated it. Ore is now being hoisted and gold is being toll-milled at a neighbouring gold plant. Ezulwini's own gold and uranium plants are under construction and expected to be commissioned in April and June 2008 respectively.
