First uranium from US mine

07 December 2009

White Canyon Uranium's Daneros mine in Utah has produced its first uranium ore. The ore is to be delivered to Denison for milling this month, after White Canyon agreed to sell all material produced during the development stage of the mine into Denison's ore buying program. Daneros, the first new uranium mine to be permitted in Utah in 30 years, is ultimately expected to produce some 500,000 pounds U3O8 (227 tonnes U3O8) per year. White Canyon expects to receive the proceeds from its first sale of ore in January 2010. Managing director Peter Batten described the achievement as a landmark for the company. "The production and sales of ore produced from the Daneros mine, the company's first mine, propels White Canyon Uranium into the ranks of producer," he said.
