Russia's ASE and Almaz-Antey cooperate

04 September 2007

Russian companies AtomStroyExport (ASE) and PVO Almaz-Antey signed a memorandum of cooperation on 29 August on the construction of electricity generation facilities, including nuclear power plants. Under the agreement, the two companies will "combine the advantages of each company for the joint implementation of investment projects in power engineering". ASE said it seeks to promote Russian nuclear power projects both domestically and abroad by supporting and involving highly-developed enterprises in the defence industry. Almaz-Antey is Russia's primary producer of air-defence weapons, but its enterprises are involved in the manufacture of "large dimension equipment" for nuclear power plants. It aims to develop its enterprises by enhancing its technical competences in the power engineering sector.
