Areva wins order for Flamanville

25 January 2007

[EdF, Areva, 24 January] Electricité de France (EdF) has awarded Areva a contract to supply the nuclear steam generator for the future Evolutionary Pressurized Water Reactor (EPR) at Flamanville. The contract includes engineering and construction of the reactor components - vessel, vessel head, steam generators, pumps, pressurizer, control rod drive mechanisms, etc. - most of which will be manufactured in Areva plants in Chalon St Marcel and Jeumont. This is the last of the major contracts to be awarded for the construction of the Flamanville 3, following the award, in August 2006, of the main civil engineering contract to Bouygues and the contract for the turbines to Alstom. Construction work on the reactor is expected to start at the end of 2007.
