Ringhals 4 gets 40 MWe extra

Vattenfall'sSwedish Ringhals 4 nuclear power unit has been fitted with newlow-pressure turbines to increase its power output by 40 MWe. Afterpermission is gained from government and regulators, SKI, unit 4 shouldalso receive new high-pressure turbines to add a further 30 MWe to itsoutput and new steam generators to add 200 MWe. This work will occur upto 2011. Other units at the site are set for low- and high-pressureturbine improvements while the thermal power ratings of units 1 and 3is to be increased, pending approval. In all, the output of the onepressurized water reactor and three boiling water reactors should beincreased by 495 MWe.
