Bowman resigns as NEI president

17 November 2008

Frank "Skip" Bowman has resigned as president and CEO of the Washington-based Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). He said he is stepping down after nearly four years at the NEI to provide an opportunity for organizational continuity during the transition in the federal government's leadership and throughout the new administration's term. In a letter to NEI chairman John Rowe, Bowman said, "As a new administration and Congress prepares to govern in one of the most challenging periods in our nation's history, this is a fitting time for NEI to take stock of how best to meet the challenging energy and environmental issues that confront us." Marvin Fertel, NEI's executive vice president and chief nuclear officer, has been selected by the NEI's Executive Committee as acting head of the organization until a new president is appointed.
