Belarus nuclear plant gets Russian credit

[Interfax, 11 June] Russia's Eximbank is ready to open a $2 billion credit line to help Belarus build its first nuclear power plant, according to Alexander Surikov, Russian ambassador to Belarus. The credit would be used to purchase equipment from Power Machines, a Russian power plant equipment company. Speaking at a press conference in Minsk, Belarus, Surikov announced that the Belarusian Energy Ministry has signed a one-year contract with Power Machines. Belarus is planning to commission two 1000 MWe nuclear power units between 2016 and 2020, at a cost of $3-4 billion.
