Change at the top of KazAtomProm

22 May 2009

A new president has been installed at KazAtomProm with former minister of trade and industry Vladimir Shkolnik replacing Moukhtar Dzhakishev, who had held the post for eleven years. The change came on the orders of Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General. KazAtomProm is a nationally-owned company which is executing the country's ambitions to become a player in all parts of the front-end of the nuclear fuel cycle. Under plans put in place by Dzhakishev, the country is soon to overtake Australia and Canada to take the top spot in uranium exports.
