Communist Party expels Kang Rixin

Tuesday, 19 October 2010
Former head of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Kang Rixin has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) after a corruption investigation. Having headed CNNC for six years Kang was accused of 'a serious disciplinary matter' in August 2009 and was soon replaced. Kang had been a member of the CPC since 1982 and served on the prestigious Central Committee as well as the equally prestigious Central Discipline Inspection Commission that was to later investigate him. Having considered the conclusion that Kang was involved in 'indecent money transactions and the use of company money to invest in his own stocks' the Central Committee's Political Bureau decided on 18 October to expel Kang from the party.
