Friday, 1 June 2007
Dwight Duncan, energy minister of the Canadian province of Ontario, has contracted consultants McKinsey & Company to analyse different nuclear power reactor designs in relation to new build in Ontario. At present, Ontario employs 16 indigenous Candu pressurized heavy water reactors designed by AECL. Andrew Muller, President of the Society of Energy Professionals said: "McKinsey & Company is a consultancy with a worldwide reputation," adding, "and it's good that energy minister Duncan is seeking advice. We fully expect that McKinsey will rate AECL's Canadian nuclear technology very highly."
