DeVore fights on in California

Californian assemblyman Chuck DeVore hascontinued his fight to have the state's moratorium on nuclear powerlifted. He previously introduced legislation to remove the prerequisitefor a full used nuclear fuel disposal that currently bars new nuclearplants in California, but this failed in April. Now, as partof his Power for Californiainitiative, he plans to submit a ballot to voters to "allow theconstruction of new, safe, and reliable nuclear power plants" to"reduce California's carbon footprint." In order to put the motion tovoters as part of June 2008 primary elections, DeVore must put togethera 500,000 signature petition. To make sure, DeVore is aiming for 1million signatures.
