Kiriyenko appoints Rosatom chief executives
Sergei Kiriyenko, director general of Russian state corporation Rosatom, has appointed several chief executives. Amongst the appointments, Nikolay Spasskiy, formerly deputy director general of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, will become deputy director general of Rosatom. Viktor Ratnikov, who was assistant to the head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, has been appointed as deputy director general, head of staff. Tamara Vorobyova will become director of the finance and accounting department, while Sergey Novikov has been appointed as director of the press service department. Kiriyenko has also appointed three advisors: Vladimir Kutsenko, Nikolay Malov and Viktor Opekunov. Russian president Vladimir Putin ratified the law concerning the formation of Rosatom in December 2007. The legislation will create a high-level state corporation named Rosatom (the same name as the existing Federal Atomic Energy Agency), which has been handicapped by its relatively low status in the political system.
