NRC issues final EIS for North Anna ESP
Friday, 12 January 2007
[NRC, 15 December] A final environmental impact statement (EIS) on the proposed Early Site Permit (ESP) for Dominion’s North Anna site has been issued by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC concluded that there are no environmental impacts that would prevent issuing the ESP. The EIS, together with the recent issuance of a final Safety Evaluation Report on the application, marks the end of the NRC’s technical review of the North Anna ESP, although additional steps must be completed before the NRC reaches a final decision on issuing a permit, expected by the end of 2007.
