New NuCrane plant for new nuclear

08 October 2009

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned today for a new factory for nuclear power plant cranes. The NuCrane joint venture, established by Westinghouse's PaR Nuclear subsidiary and Hutchinson Manufacturing, is specifically meant to support construction of Westinghouse's AP1000 reactors by supplying main cranes. All nuclear reactors feature large high-specification hoists in the reactor building for use during refuelling and maintenance. NuCrane's factory will cover half a hectare in Hutchinson, Minnesota and will employ up to 62 people.
