New chairman for UK industry group

Lord Hutton will take over as chairman of the UK Nuclear Industry Association (NiA) for a three-year tenure in mid-June. He will replace Lord O'Neill who served for around the same time. NiA chief executive Keith Parker praised the work of O'Neill, who oversaw the body as it expanded from 100 to over 250 members. Hutton spent 18 years as the member of parliament for Barrow-in-Furness, the port town about 20 kilometres from Sellafield which routinely handles nuclear shipments. He was business minister during a crucial recent period for the UK nuclear sector when much of the current framework for new build was established.
