Nuclear-grade Olympic safety

08 August 2008

When the officials of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) take their rest tonight in the luxurious Beijing Hotel, they will be kept safe in part by the efforts of Chinese nuclear workers. The hotel is kitted out with extensive fire prevention and firefighting equipment fitted by a team of experts from the China Institute of Atomic Energy's Electronic Instrument Factory. China National Nuclear Corporation said the group had won a 'fierce competition' for the work to protect the hotel, which houses the Olympic Command Centre as well as the IOC delegation.
