Review for OPG's waste decision

[CNSC, 22 December] A panelshould review Ontario Power Generation's (OPG's) decision to dispose ofhigh-level radioactive waste in a deep geological repository, theCanadian Nuclear Safety Commission has recommended to the CanadianMinister of the Environment. An Environmental Assessment isnevertheless required by law. OPG's move followed the recommendationsof the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, a committee set up in2002 to recommend a long-term approach to managing Canada's stocks ofused nuclear fuel.
