Shaw Stone & Webster, part of the Shaw group, has been awarded a $700 million contract to provide craft labour and management for maintenance and modifications to Exelon's fleet of nuclear power plants.
The latest deal essentially represents a continuation of a similar contract signed in 2001.
Exelon owns the largest nuclear power fleet in the USA, counting 17 reactors in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Exelon's plants, Braidwood, Byron, Clinton, Dresden, LaSalle Limerick, Oyster Creek, Peach Bottom, Quad Cities and Three Mile Island account for about one fifth of the USA's nuclear electricity.
The services in the contract, to be provided up to 2011, may also include pipe fabrication and construction, if required by Exelon.
