Standard for portable nuclear skills

Thursday, 12 August 2010
The UK's National Skills Academy has completed work on a standard for training developed in-house by firms in the nuclear sector. Workers that take part in 'NEF Assured' courses run by their employers will be sure the skills thus developed will be recognised later in their careers. Jean Llewellyn of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear said, "Employers were keen that an assurance level was established to enable training completed by nuclear employers to be recognised on the Nuclear Skills Passport, alongside training completed by the Skills Academy's Quality Assured Providers." Obtaining the standard requires a high degree of consistency from firms in their approach to training as well as a recognition of the need for continuous improvement and a direct impact on business objectives.
