Chairman of Westinghouse's board of directors Shigenori Shiga commented: "The recent US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval of the final design of the AP1000 nuclear power plant, the imminent approval of construction of the first new nuclear plants in the USA in 30 years, and the ongoing construction of the first phase of four nuclear plants in China caps Dr Candris' magnificent career with Westinghouse." Candris will be succeeded by Jim Ferland as president and CEO and Ricardo Perez as president and chief operating officer. Ferland currently serves as president for the Americas region, while Perez is president of operations.
