A new company has been established with the goal of developing a nuclear power plant near the Mongstad oil refinery in Norway. Meanwhile, Norsk Kjernekraft has partnered with France's Hexana to explore opportunities for joint deployment of advanced nuclear technologies in Norway.

Norway's Nuclear Power Committee has selected US-based engineering company Amentum and Norwegian consulting firm Multiconsult Norge AS to report on technology options for a potential nuclear power programme.

Swedish lead-cooled small modular reactor technology developer Blykalla and Norwegian nuclear project developer Norsk Kjernekraft are to launch a joint project company to develop an SMR power plant on the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.

Halden Kjernekraft has submitted a proposal to Norway's Ministry of Energy for an assessment of the construction of both a power plant based on multiple small modular reactors as well as a radioactive waste storage facility at Halden, in southeast Norway.
