Poland's Respect Energy considers deploying French SMR design
Polish renewable energy trader Respect Energy has signed an agreement with EDF to cooperate on the development of nuclear power projects in Poland based on France's Nuward small modular reactor technology.

Korea and UAE agree to expand nuclear cooperation
South Korea and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to "deepen and accelerate collaboration in the peaceful nuclear energy sector". Several memorandums of understanding were signed during a meeting between Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nayhan.

Accord reached on extending operation of Belgian units
French utility Engie and the Belgian federal government have signed an agreement with a view to restarting the Doel 4 and Tihange 3 nuclear power reactors in 2026 and operating them for a further ten years. Both units are currently scheduled to be shut down in 2025.

Japan, USA to cooperate on advanced reactor development
The two countries plan to work together on the development and construction of next-generation advanced reactors including small modular reactors, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura and US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said after meeting in Washington DC.

Westinghouse and Poland's PEJ sign agreement on AP1000 'next steps'
Poland’s Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe has signed a cooperation agreement with Westinghouse "defining the main principles and path forward for the first Polish nuclear reactors".

Agreements for microreactor deployment in Finland and further afield
Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Finland's Lappeenranta University of Technology to explore the deployment of a Micro-Modular Reactor in Lappeenranta. Meanwhile, USNC has signed an MoU with Canadian privately held investment firm Portland Holdings Investco Limited to promote the MMR in the Middle East, North Africa and the Caribbean regions.

Fortum and Kärnfull to explore SMR deployment in Sweden

USA-Ukraine announce cooperation on clean fuels from SMRs
Ukraine and the USA have announced a project to demonstrate the production of hydrogen and ammonia using small modular reactor and innovative electrolysis technologies in Ukraine. The public-private consortium also includes Japanese and South Korean companies.

Initial Pątnów site assessment under way
Initial site investigations have begun for the construction of a Korean-supplied nuclear power plant in Pątnów in central Poland. In addition, 13 Memoranda of Understanding have been signed between Korean and Polish suppliers to cooperate on the project.
