USA-headquartered KBR has been awarded a contract to support the UK's Nuclear Waste Services in developing a Geological Disposal Facility. Such a facility, NWS says, will create more than 4000 jobs for the local host community.

Estonia's Fermi Energia has said it will accept tenders from three small modular reactor developers: GE Hitachi, NuScale and Rolls-Royce. The company said bids with comprehensive technical documentation needed to estimate the construction cost are expected by December, and the technology selection will be made in February 2023.

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited has placed its first order for storage racks for its new away-from-reactor wet storage facility for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant with Holtec Asia. The facility will serve units 1 and 2 at the plant.

Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources says it has taken the "necessary initiatives to resolve the conflict between the parties" after the Rosatom subsidiary Akkuyu Nuclear was reported to have terminated the contract with Turkish firm IC Içtaş.

Germany's federal radioactive waste company, Bundesgesellschaft für Endlagerung, has awarded Hanover-based construction firm Ed Züblin AG a contract to construct the radioactive waste reloading hall at the Konrad repository in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony.
