Suppliers raise Olkiluoto 3 damages claim
The Areva-Siemens consortium has increased its claim against Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) to €2.7 billion ($3.7 billion) in relation to the delay and cost overruns of the Olkiluoto EPR.

New backup generators for Olkiluoto
Nine new backup generators will be delivered to the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in what owners TVO are describing as the largest ever individual modification of the plant. These are to be supplied and installed by Wärtsilä over the period 2016 to 2020.

Another option for Hanhikivi
Fennovoima has invited Rosatom to participate in "direct negotiations" on the supply of a mid-sized AES-2006 reactor for its planned Hanhikivi plant in Finland. Toshiba's larger EU-ABWR is also under consideration.

Finnish waste fund continues to grow
Finnish nuclear operators had set aside a total of €2.16 billion ($2.77 billion) by the end of 2012 for waste disposal and decommissioning activities, the country's Ministry for Employment and the Economy reported.

Fennovoima selects Toshiba but keeps options open
Finland's Fennovoima has launched a study into the possibility of building a mid-sized nuclear reactor at Hanhikivi despite inviting Toshiba to take part in "direct negotiations" about proposals for a 1600 MWe boiling water reactor at the site.
