Disposal beats MOX in US comparison

Test runs to start at UK dry fuel store
The UK regulator has given approval for the inactive commissioning process to begin at a dry nuclear fuel store at Sizewell B, the country's first such nuclear fuel storage facility. Construction of the store began in early 2013.

Russia tests fuel assemblies for BN-800 fast reactor
Russia's Mining and Chemical Combine said today that its mixed-oxide fuel fabrication facility has completed tests on putting together the first nuclear fuel assemblies for the BN-800 fast neutron reactor. The BN-800 is unit 4 at the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant in the Sverdlovsk district.

Tepco readies to install unit 3 cover
The installation of a protective cover over unit 3 of the damaged Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan can start as soon as the removal of rubble from the reactor building is completed, Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) said.

Kazakhstan agrees to supply uranium to India
Kazakh uranium mining company KazAtomProm has signed a contract with India's Department of Atomic Energy to supply 5000 tonnes of uranium over the next four years.
