CB&I to decommission floating reactor
The USA's only floating nuclear power plant will be decommissioned by CB&I under a $34.7 million contract. The MH-1A reactor provided power to the Panama Canal zone before being shut down in 1976.

Investigators enter WIPP
Workers have re-entered the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico for the first time since a radiological event occurred there in mid-February. Future teams will travel deeper into the facility towards the suspected source of the release.

Waste heads to Texas while WIPP gets in shape
Waste from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico will be temporarily stored at a site in Texas until the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) disposal facility reopens. LANL has committed to remove all above-ground transuranic waste from its site by June.

Workers to re-enter WIPP
A recovery process has started at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) with the aim of resuming operations. Seventeen workers have so far tested positive for extremely low levels of contamination following a radiological event at the facility last month.

Fukushima water storage tank overflows
UPDATED
An investigation is underway into why a storage tank at the Fukushima Daiichi site overflowed, leading to a spill of partially treated radioactive water. Clean-up of this water, which does not appear to have flowed into the sea, is underway.

Studsvik scales back US presence

Tenders for Russian submarine fuel removal
Suppliers are being sought by Russia for equipment to handle and transport used nuclear submarine fuel currently stored at Andreeva Bay. Such fuel has been stored at the site for over 50 years.
