The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved modest power uprates at two nuclear power plants. FirstEnergy's Davis-Besse pressurized water reactor in Ohio will increase its capacity from 893 to 905 MWe, while Nebraska Public Power District's Cooper boiling water reactor will increase from 815 to 830 MWe. The increases in output at both plants will be achieved primarily through more accurate means of measuring feedwater flow, NRC said, and will be implemented this summer.
