Sellafield suspects released without charge
The men arrested close to the Sellafield site under anti-terrorism legislation have been released without charge, police said on 4 May. Five Londoners were arrested after a stop-check on their car by the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, which provides tight security for British nuclear sites. The men had been held for two days during which time four residential addresses in East London were searched. "Officers have conducted a thorough investigation and a decision has been made to release the five men without charge," said Greater Manchester Police, the central force for counter terrorism activities in the north west of England. Neither the incident of the arrests nor the subsequent police work affected operations at Sellafield.
