New Mexico waste incident settlements finalized
Settlement agreements worth $74 million have been finalized by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) and its contractors, resolving claims relating to incidents at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in 2014. Operations are now expected to restart at WIPP in December 2016.

Jaitapur agreement due by year-end
A deal between France and India for the construction of six EPR nuclear power reactors at Jaitapur in India's Maharashtra state is now set to be finalized by the end of this year, the countries' leaders have said.

China, Saudi Arabia agree to build HTR
China and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. It was one of 14 agreements and memoranda of understanding signed yesterday during a meeting in Riyadh of Chinese president Xi Jinping and Saudi's Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Denmark and Greenland reach uranium export agreement

India charts progress with overseas partners
Commercial negotiations between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd and Westinghouse on the construction of six AP1000 units at Mithi Virdi in India are on course to be finalized in 2016, the Indian cabinet has said. Separately, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have welcomed progress towards identifying a new site for VVERs in India.

USA applauds Iran's uranium shipment to Russia
US Secretary of State John Kerry has described yesterday's shipment of more than 11 tonnes (25,000 pounds) of low-enriched uranium materials from Iran to Russia as "one of the most significant steps" the Middle Eastern country has taken toward fulfilling its commitments under the nuclear accord it signed with world powers earlier this year.

Centrus, Tenex extend cooperation to 2026
Centrus Energy Corp has reached agreement with Russian uranium enrichment company Techsnabexport (Tenex) to modify the terms of the long-term supply contract they signed in 2011 and to extend their contractual relationship until 2026.

Climate conference reaches agreement
UPDATED
Nations meeting at the United Nations COP21 climate change conference in Paris yesterday adopted a universal agreement on actions to combat climate change to keep the increase in global temperature to less than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

Convention signed on extending lives of Doel units
Engie - parent of Belgium's Electrabel - yesterday signed an agreement with the Belgian government that revises the tax contribution paid by the country's nuclear operators. It also allows for a ten-year life extension for units 1 and 2 of the Doel nuclear power plant.
