Valve order for Chinese AP1000 units
Monday, 31 January 2011
US-based Emerson Process Management has been awarded a multi-million dollar order by China's State Nuclear Power Engineering Corp (SNPEC) to supply safety-related control valves for two AP1000 reactors currently under construction. The order for both the Sanmen 2 and Haiyang 2 units are among the first major valve orders to be placed by SNPEC for these projects, according to Emerson. The company said that the valves would be used in applications in the units' nuclear islands and in their passive residual heat removal system. In the containment area, air-operated control valves will serve several functions related to operational safety. In the passive residual heat removal system, control valves will help achieve proper plant cooling during shutdown.
