China's State Council has approved five nuclear power projects - Xuwei Phase I, Lufeng Phase I, Zhaoyuan Phase I, San'ao Phase II and Bailong Phase I - with a total of 11 reactors.

The reactor pressure vessel for unit 2 of the San'ao nuclear power plant in China's Zhejiang province has been installed within the reactor building, CGN Cangnan Nuclear Power announced.

The reactor pressure vessel top cover has been hoisted into place at unit 1 of the San'ao nuclear power plant in China's Zhejiang province, while the first steam generator has been installed at unit 8 of the Tianwan plant in Jiangsu province.

Candu Energy Inc has agreed with Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Company Limited to support the ongoing 30-year life extension of the two Candu reactors at the Qinshan Nuclear Generating Station, while Bruce Power has awarded a CAD700 million (USD510 million) contract to replace steam generators at Bruce units 5, 7 and 8 to the AECON-led Steam Generator Replacement Team joint venture.

The reactor pressure vessel for unit 2 of the San'ao nuclear power plant has arrived at the construction site in China's Zhejiang province, CGN Cangnan Nuclear Power announced.

The fourth and final steel ring forming the walls of the main containment shell has been hoisted into place at unit 3 of the Sanmen nuclear power plant in China's Zhejiang province.

The pouring of first concrete has been announced for both unit 5 at the Ningde nuclear power plant in Fujian Province and unit 1 of the Shidaowan plant in Shandong Province. Both units will feature Hualong One reactors.

The first batch of concrete has been poured for the nuclear island of unit 2 at the Xudabao nuclear power plant in China's Liaoning Province, marking the official start of construction of the unit.

The project in Ordos in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is being developed by China National Nuclear Corporation, with work beginning on Friday, according to the China Atomic Energy Authority.

Tests to check the integrity of the containment structure have been completed at unit 1 of the Zhangzhou nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province. The unit is the first of three Hualong One (HPR1000) reactors under construction at the site.

China's first industrial-use nuclear energy steam supply project, at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China's Jiangsu province, has entered operation following commissioning tests. The project will supply steam to a nearby petrochemical plant.

The revamped project plan for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor aims for "a scientifically and technically robust initial phase of operations, including deuterium-deuterium fusion operation in 2035 followed by full magnetic energy and plasma current operation".
